Dates: 5,6,12,13,19,20 January 2013 Time: 2-7 PM Address: Wah Luen Industrial Building 15-21. Stripped Lights’ is an exhibition of recent works of thirteen young artists. The name of the exhibition refers to expressing oneself frankly. In recent years, the participating artists develop themselves in different directions. Some of them work, study, abandoned art and etc. Sometimes, artists question the meaningfulness of doing art when they face problems and difficulties in life. Where shall these artists fulfil their enthusiasm of art? They had spent a few years learning and living together when they were studying. Now that they exhibit work after departing from each other’s influence, their works would gather their individual characters more frankly than a couple of years back. The participating artists all graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and were taught by Lui Chun Kwong from 2007 to 2010. With youth, ignorance and nonchalance, they are what Lui regards as the fifth generation of artists in Hong Kong who are satisfied with current status without much self-reflecting. This exhibition will be held during Fotanian OpenStudio in Lui’s ‘Yi Liu Painting Factory’. Showing works in a venue owned by a person who was very important to the artists’ studies adds extra significance to the exhibition. Participating artists: CHAU Sau Lan, CHENG Sze Tracy, CHU Sin Wa, HO Shuk Mei Corn, HO Yim Ting Vicky, KONG Yiu Wing, LAM Yiu Him, Lewis LAU, PANG Yi Ki Annette, Helen SO Miiasoey, WONG Yee Ki, YANG Lam Kit, Bernard YEUNG FYI http://www.fotanian.org/?lang=hk |
SOUND OF AIRby
Helen SO Miiasoey . Boy YIU Kwan Ho Exhibition period: 12 November - 10 December 2011 Gallery opening hours: (Wed–Sat) 11am-7pm, other times by appointment Gallery address: No.5 Ladder Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong (5-7mins walk from Caine Road exit of the mid-levels escalators to the conjunction of Ladder Street, or Taxi to the conjunction of Caine Road and Ladder Street.) Gallery Livi is pleased to present the gallery first exhibition with works of mixed media installation - Sound of Air, by two young artists Helen SO Miiasoey and Boy YIU Kwan Ho. Helen graduated from CUHK, her works often full of childlike fantasies and surpassed child nightmares in a paradoxical way, while her keen desire to searching for her identity has always been the repetitive theme of her works. The work of Boy Yiu is silent and poetic. Though Boy is major in sculpture, he never limits the art form and medium by combining installation, photography and multimedia for the creative process. Re-interpretation and appropriation of the existed text are one of the strengths of the artist. The exhibition depicts the solitude they feel in this crowded city – the two are the whom cannot experience love thoroughly but eager to learn how to love, their works reflected the frustration and alienation whenever they are trying to feel love. |
